America's Test Kitchen
is a cooking show on PBS that my dvr has started dvr'ing for me. I did not set it to record...I have no idea how my dvr just started recording it, but it's pretty freaking awesome so let's call it a New Year's miracle. Anyway, today's episode was on making croissants and crepes - you guys *have* to check it out! You will want to make croissants RIGHT.NOW. Seriously.
You can watch episodes online - here's a link to the episode that I watched today: http://www.americastestkitchen.com/episodes/detail.php?docid=35175&incode=M**ASCA00
Bon appetite!

Happy Saturday!
Dinner is leftovers from last night's dinner at Maggiano's: bowtie pasta with sundried tomatoes, spinach and some other green veggie. Dessert is chocolate cake that tastes like an Andes chocolate candy. Wine is the boxed wine we bought in FL!! I can't believe how economical box wine is haha.
Do you guys have Maggiano's near you? I haven't been in years - its an Italian chain restaurant but is pretty good. Crazy value - I bought one of the classic pastas (baked rigatoni - sorry, forgot to take pics yesterday) and you get a whole other entree sized classic pasta dish to take home with you, compliments of the chef! Isn't that crazy? And of course the portions are huge so I really got 4 or more meals out of this!!

Happy (belated) new year!
Man, this new year is starting of slowly... Maya was much more productive than I was on the first, but I like to think that's a sign that our NYE party was a success! We ended up having around 12-15 people over for the NYE party; served dinner of ham, mac n' cheese, and roasted brussel sprouts (which were a huge hit!!). Then we partied like it was 2012 - and I felt it the next morning and basically slept the whole day away. :-)
Last night, Kira made bobotie for dinner, which is a South African dish (she got the recipe from Will's mom) and is basically curried ground beef over rice. Very delicious, and we had rice pudding for dessert! Yummmmz.

Happy New Year's!
I thought it would be extra special to post an entry in the b-log today since its New year's day and whatever we do today, we'll do all year long (or something)...
So, last night started out as an epic single girl's night in celebration but ended up being a sleepover at my friends Emily and Greg's place! Part 1 of the celebration consisted of frozen pizza, pink bubbles, enchanted on TV, and special seafood entrees for the meows. Part 2 consisted of more bubbles and watching the ball drop at Emily and Greg's place. This morning he made us an amazing breakfast: poached eggs on top of sausage patties and potato pancakes!!! AMAZING. We then followed breakfast with the (3 hour long) Xmas eve episode of Doctor Who. To round out the 1st day of 2013, I spoke to M&D, watched a few more episodes of Weeds (this Netflix streaming thing on our blue ray player is AWESOME), gave myself a steam facial, paid some bills, and am writing in here. All in all, a great day! Here's to a happy, healthy and prosperous year!
