I have had an assortment of yummy meals - ranging from dinner with KEVIN (!) at Serpas last Thursday, where I'm pretty sure the bartender poured an entire bottle of wine into the two glasses of wine I ordered (of which, I could only finish 1 and a quarter glass. Oh, for the shame.) Kevin was a good sport when I asked if I could take pictures of our meal for the dinner b-log :-) He was also a good sport about being around me as I was just about to embark on a weeklong cold - hope he didn't catch it (but honestly, would be really surprised and impressed at the strength of his immune system! I was a gross snotty mess. Sorry, Jaya, probably not the best impression for me to make, but I also didn't want him to think that I didn't want to meet him by making some lame excuse up like I had a cold. :-)
OH, so we had really yummy food. Pigs in blankets and these delicious house made chips topped with salmon and capers to start. He had a giant veal something or other with a side of cheesy grits (AWESOME) and I had mussels, which were good but I had zero appetite to enjoy them. But, I rallied so we could have beignets for dessert! :-)
I have been trying not to spend as much money on restaurants so I tried making "soup" with things I had in the kitchen - turkey kielbasa, chicken, black beans, corn, carrots, onion, garlic. I threw in a can of chicken broth and tomato sauce --> SOUP! I don't know. It was good, but not very liquid-y. Oh well.
Other awesome meals this week was for Suzanne's bday on Monday night - we went to a great restaurant called JCT kitchen. I had a burger :-) When you guys come visit me, we'll have to go here - I loved the decor and atmosphere. So cool!

Kevin?! Haha, I thought I was reading Jaya's post... for awhile. That's cool you met him!
ReplyDeleteBeignets sound like fancy fried dough (omg I can't remember the Jersey word for that now..), YUM!
Judging from that soup, it looks like you had some pretty good stuff in the fridge!
