Totally neglected my blog posts over the last couple of days. 'Twas a quiet weekend, so I have no excuse. Let's see...
Friday I met Russ and a couple of his coworkers for drinks at an Irish pub, where I also had dinner. I ordered something called a boxty, which is a traditional Irish potato pancake. I ordered it stuffed with shepherds pie filling. I wish I had remembered to take a picture of it because it looked just like a small dosa, only it was folded in half instead of rolled up. I give it a 6 out of 10. Also, the pub was in a giant mall in Irvine, a big suburb about half an hour north of me.
Saturday I had pasta for dinner. (Had a nice morning - Russ and I signed up for a sailing class at a marina nearby and it was our second of four classes. Its a little overwhelming as a beginner but gratifying as I slowly start to scratch the surface of understanding how this invisible wind power works and how to control the crazy boat and all the stuff attached to it. Russ knows how to do everything already but he needs to take the class to be able to rent boats in the future. It has been an interesting test of teamwork for us, manning a boat together!)
Sunday night dinner was egg curry, sambar, poori, and rice. (I went to the closest Indian grocery store earlier in the day and bought the fixings there, including drumsticks, Maya!) Sambar was made using a premade spice packet, tamarind, toor dal, and the veggies.
And so the weekend came to an end.

A. That does not sound like a quiet weekend at all, lol.
ReplyDeleteB. I wish I had taken sailing classes in Boston! That sounds like its so much fun.
C. It's interesting how different cultures have similar foods - like empanadas and samosas for example. Or, these boxty things and dosas!
D. OMG the Indian food looks so good!!
